Pat Marsello's pottery is made from white stoneware, porcelain and black clay.
It is wheel thrown or hand built, then altered, carved or assembled into a
finished piece.
It is fired twice, once to make it manageable for decoration, and a final
high fire to 2100 degrees to set the glazes and brushwork.
All
glazed work is suitable for food, lead free and dishwasher safe.
In 2001 Pat returned to paper in the form of scrolls using mulberry unryus
from Thailand, Kingin Lace from Japan, rice papers from China. With a sizing
recipe for silk, she developed a laminating technique, layering textures and
color, to create a canvas for brushwork and calligraphy. All scrolls roll
up and include stoneware scroll weights. Custom work for scrolls is welcome.
